Past updates
September 20, 2006 - We're excited to welcome a new face to the barn! This is Suerte,
a 3 year-old, Paso Fino, gelding. He will be in rehabilitation for a time due to a sore on
his belly that will not heal and other issues.
Update 10/12/06 - The swelling and sore on Suerte's tummy looked to us much like an
allergic reaction that several of our horses have shown to alfalfa hay. Since he's been
off the alfalfa, the swelling has drastically shrunk and the sore is beginning to heal.
Maverick has decided to adopt Suerte. He's been busy showing him the ropes, helping
him settle in, and teaching him how to play. We are happy to see Suerte beginning to
blossom with the attention.
Update December 10, 2006: A chiropractor was out yesterday and worked on Suerte.
We found out that his hips and pelvis were locked up, which was why we were seeing
problems with his hind end. Once adjusted Suerte started moving much better, and the
issues he'd been having with backing up were resolved.
