Equine Recline Newsletter Winter 2010

Carol Grubb graciously organized things with Leslie of Harmony Stables who has donated board and care for Natasha to spend a
month there while Carol works with her to evaluate her training and do some retraining as necessary. We can’t thank them enough for
the generosity. If you are interested, Harmony Stables does have stalls open. They are located in the Tanque Verde Valley area near
the Agua Caliente wash. You can contact them at 520-331-4169 or visit their website at http://www.harmonyboardingstables.com.

Natasha is thriving with the attention and patient retraining she is receiving. The difference in her is just amazing. The slow ground
work she is doing is slowly retraining her in how she carries herself and moves. While before it was very head high, hollow backed,
she is now learning to carry herself in a more relaxed manner.

She was also seen by chiropractor Dr. Lynn Kozlowski Stone. Natasha was excellent during the exam even though she wasn’t at all
sure what was going on. She is probably going to need further treatments, especially on her hips/pelvis. Further sessions will be $100
each. Donations for her to continue getting the treatments she needs are needed and greatly appreciated. You can either make a
donation on our general donation page with an added note that the funds are for Natasha, or go to Natasha’s page and click on the
Sponsor Me button.

With further treatments we will be able to hopefully figure out if Natasha will be able to be ridden or not.

We have now sponsored the gelding of 3 stallions through the Studly No More Gelding Program! Here’s a note from one of the
owners.

I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Equine Recline and those involved in providing the Studly No More
Gelding program. Their vet was wonderful and very professional. We rescue one little miniature horse at a time and select
for sweet disposition and calmness. We share our little miniature horses with others. Over the years we have castrated
several stallions, but due to the rising vet cost we could no longer look at stallions for rescue options. When we came across
a 10 year old stallion that had a disposition and calmness that is rare in a breeding stallion, I did take a look because Equine
Recline provide me with the option of their gelding program. So instead of a stallion contributing to the over population of
excess miniature horses there is a wonderful little gelding with a new career helping others and learning to drive. Many
thanks again. Sherry

We are excited with this success but need your help in order to continue Studly No More. Please make a donation today, so that we
can help more owners be able to have their stallions gelded. Together we can make a difference.

I have to tell you this summer has been a roller coaster ride for us on a personal basis at Equine Recline. I don’t think you ever really
know how devastating it is to hear a diagnosis of cancer until it hits your family. I’ve had friends that I’ve lost to it, but it becomes a
completely different ball game when you live with it in your face day in and day out.

There are so many challenges you face when a loved one gets such a diagnosis. One of the biggest ones I discovered is to not live in
fear. It is so easy to become afraid and let it just paralyze you. First there’s the shock, disbelief, and wondering how are we going to
get through this? But right on the heels of that was what do we do about the rescue? Do we shut it down? Do we downsize? In this
economy finding a home for a healthy, sound, trained riding horse is hard enough, how do we place horses that are older, unrideable,
and with health issues? But if we don’t at least place some, how are we going to get through things when the medical bills start flowing
in, work is being missed, and things are getting tighter?

After the diagnosis comes and treatment begins everything just hits at once so you just don’t even have time to do anything. You just
put one foot in front of the other and get through one day at a time.

Then comes the day that you finally reach the end. The chemo is done, CT scans are coming back clear, blood work is clear, side
effects are over with and you come out of a fog to find almost 6 months have gone by. There’s this almost sudden transition back into
life that seems so strange when your schedule has been wrapped around hospital and doctor’s appointments, and fitting things in
wherever and whenever you can around everything else.

We’ve been wanting to tell you all what’s been going on here, but somehow just couldn’t seem to find the words to say. We’re still in
that disorienting transition back into "normal" life. We’re also trying to get caught up on things we had to let slide such as newsletters,
the website, etc and yet we are also finding ourselves, what seems to be very suddenly, facing the holidays!

For those of you who have known and been praying, we thank you for all of your prayers. And for any of you that you, a family
member, loved one, or friend is battling cancer, our prayers are with you. I hope and pray that you too will soon be getting those
clear test results back.

While the crisis is over, we need your help as we get back on our feet. I know the economy is rather tight for many people right now,
but a donation of any amount, even $5 is needed and greatly appreciated. There’s many options and ways for you to make a
donation and make a difference. You can make a
general donation, support the Studly No More Gelding Program, become an
Equine Recline Champion by becoming a monthly donor, or sponsor a horse for any amount. $20 pays to have their hooves trimmed,
$50 provides hay for a month, $75 a month provides hay and grain, while $150 a month provides hay, grain, feet trimmed, and
supplements.

We also need $275 to have
Shalom gelded. Shalom won’t be adopted out until he has been gelded. With the cooler weather it’s now
a perfect time to geld him; however we need donations in order to make this happen. You can click on the Sponsor Me button on his
page to donate towards his care, and also towards him being gelded.

Thanks everyone for your support and generosity.
