Equine Recline
Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Retirement
Sahuarita, Arizona
Maverick is a 1998, Quarter Horse-cross, chestnut gelding. He was donated to Equine Recline
after bowing a tendon in his left front leg. He'd bowed a tendon in 2005 in his right front leg.

Maverick is such a joy to have around and he completely lights up the barn. He is the most social
horse I have ever met, and loves hanging out with the other horses. Of course if that means he can
also steal.... er, share their food too, that makes him the happiest!

We have decided that Maverick will not be offered for adoption, but will be retired here for life.

January 13, 2008: Having both splints is helping Maverick tremendously, but now he is dealing
with abscesses at the coronet bands on his hooves, which is making it difficult to put the splints
on. With the splints on, the abscess are rubbed raw. Without the splints he has a harder time
standing and we begin to loose what progress we have made. It is a catch 22.

Between upgrade fees for the splints and fees for padding and cuffs we currently still owe about
$600 on the rental of the splints. Thank you to all of you who have donated money towards
Maverick's recovery!

February 4, 2008: We've decided to start a blog to follow along with Maverick's recovery.
