Maverick got his shoes reset. He did absolutely wonderful! Thanks to our farrier Ben Bahti for his wonderful work on Maverick!
We’d been told that eventually the right hoof would probably start dying off due to lack of proper circulation. We have been nervous about this and were afraid that he would not have healthy hoof underneath the dead sole of the hoof that needed trimmed off. Thank God he does though!
For the first time Maverick was able to stand unsupported other than the Dynasplint while having his right hoof trimmed. It has been a very long time since he has been able to support himself that well on his left leg. Remember his left leg is the one that had the original contracture in it. We had to put the prosthetic on his right leg in order to trim his left one, and he did excellent. Again he did not need us to support him.
Maverick has been sore from the trim and was a bit subdued for several days. He is back being his spunky, talkative self now.
